Apparently the $29 DVD players advertised at Wal Mart this week caused a huge shopper melee at a Wal Mart in Florida. It would be funny except for the fact that one woman, 41 year old Patty Van Lester was trampled in the rush to get to the electronics department, and ended up in the hospital.

From news reports:

“Paramedics called to the store found VanLester unconscious on top of a DVD player, surrounded by shoppers seemingly oblivious to her, said Mark O’Keefe, a spokesman for EVAC Ambulance.”

But don’t worry, Wal Mart feels really bad about it. According to the injured woman’s sister, “Wal-Mart officials called later Friday to ask about her, and the store apologized and offered to put a DVD player on hold for her.”

That’s really big of them, don’t you think?
