boycott infant formula September 24, 2004
There are many reasons why breastfeeding matters, and one of them is that when you do not breastfeed, you have to buy infant formula. And when you buy infant formula, you are supporting formula manufacturers’ increasingly successful campaign to decrease breastfeeding rates in the third world, and that’s where breastfeeding-or-not is literally and immediately a life or death issue for babies and young children.

I am still BFing my twins; they are 12 1/2 months old. It’s going well, always has done, and they love to nurse.
BUT - I did use formula/artificial milk/corn syrup solids/poison in the first five months. (What I called it depended on how guilty I was feeling at the time) I HAD to get some sleep, they nursed a lot (every hour for 20 minutes, 24 hours a day) in those first five months and formula was my only option. My sister, who is BFing her son, gave me some of her pumped breast milk, but she lives 90 minutes drive away, couldn’t give me enough and I had nowhere else to go for baby juice but the A&P. What else could I have done w/o starving my twins and/or getting completely ill myself?
I have read Mothering Multiples and Attachment Parenting and the Sears books, the advice is good, BUT I did need to sleep.
Enjoyable blog. Please check out my dog bred blog.
Surfing some of the lesbian blogs today I stumbled onto your blog. I liked it! Thanks for the posts…
Nice Blog!!! I thought I’d tell you about a site that will let give you places where
you can make extra cash! I made over $800 last month. Not bad for not doing much. Just put in your
zip code and up will pop up a list of places that are available. I live in a small area and found quite
a few. MAKE MONEY NOW
What’s with all the spam type posts? Kate I think your post here is a little confusing. If a mother cannot bf, for whatever reason, or needs to supplement what should she use if we are “boycotting forula”?
