I don’t want to sell anything, buy anything, or process anything as a career. I don’t want to sell anything bought or processed, or buy anything sold or processed, or process anything sold, bought, or processed, or repair anything sold, bought, or processed. You know, as a career, I don’t want to do that.

my parenting do-over January 7, 2008

I have an essay at Babble today about getting a parenting do-over.

(I am aware this makes me both petty and vain, but I really do hope that no one thinks the woman with the baby in the photo illustrating the essay is me. I mean, Babble always has all these photos of impossibly hip and attractive people illustrating their content, but not so much this time. I mean, umm, I’m sure that woman in the photo is actually very attractive in person, so perhaps that’s just not her most flattering photo… I think I’ll just shut up now ;-) )

I think the model in the photo accompanying the article is exotic and attractive.

I agree with you.
I think they showed an obviously older mother to illustrate the article.
I always thought that the photos on Babble accompanying the articles were of the author (and I’m a savvy reader and I thought this).
I think it’s an unattractive angle of the model (she is a handsome woman) that it is worth your effort to provide a photo of you and C in a similar layout and enough space on the left side for the title copy, and then they can change it easily.

Then you can charge them for your art direction services! ?

I liked your article. Interesting to see how your choices have affected your older children. I could identify with the last issue–I need to do a better job requiring my 3 year old to clean up her toys. Great to know that the AP stuff resulted in such great kids!

Ouch! I hope the mama in the picture doesn’t google your blog and find out that she’s not hip enough.

it is a beautiful essay, although you do realize you’ll have a new crop of mistakes to make :)
sometimes this parenting thing seems like such a roll of the dice!

She has long hair. Anyone who keeps up with things around here know you don’t have hair that long. :)
